Akkini FM has always been a browser tab away. From this week it is also a home-screen icon: the rebuilt station app is live on both the App Store and Google Play, free, with no account to create.
Built around one button
Open the app and the stream is already there — a single play control, the programme currently on air, and the presenter fronting the station today. Lock-screen and CarPlay/Android Auto controls come as standard, so the stream keeps running while you drive, cook or work.
“Our listeners are in forty countries and thirty time zones. The app had to work the same way at five in the morning in Zürich as at midnight in Toronto.”
What is next
Song requests straight from the app, push alerts for live specials, and an offline archive of our weekend shows are all in development. Tell us what you would use most — the studio inbox is open.
